This one hits all the boxes for this blog: a movie/book combo!! A Simple Favor was one of my favorite books from Darcy Bell, and the movie did not disappoint either! So many people will debate books versus their movie counterparts as far as merit. "The book is better!" "I only read movies." You've heard the arguments.😂 In this case, both versions are equally worth your time!
Stephanie is a widowed vlogger living in Connecticut with her young son. She overachieves in every area of her life, including parenting. Emily is a mom of one with a glamorous job in the city, a hot husband, and a laissez-faire approach to motherhood. The two seem an unlikely match, but through their boys' incessant demand for a playdate, the two strike up a friendship.
There are many things I loved about this story. The dark humor throughout blanketing serious topics is witty and smart! The twists and turns you will find yourself navigating are sharp and quick. The ending is by far one of my favorite endings to a story EVER! You'll find nuggets of information within the web that is woven by these women. For instance, drawing attention to the nearly impossible habit to break for many women; the constant need to apologize. As though our very existence needs to be forgiven!
Obviously, I recommend you read the book (quickly) and then get caught up on this amazing movie with outstanding performances from Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively. The sooner, the better. Another Simple Favor hits the big screen in May!
