I know that being an author means that I should review more books than movies, but since I've been finishing up my latest novel, I haven't been able to read as much. However, I have definitely been watching some movies, especially when I want to procrastinate!

So one more movie before I get back to blogging about whatever book I'm lost in! Night Bitch was something else! This movie tackled some really tricky subject matter regarding motherhood. Amy Adams showed her enormous talent and range as a new mom who gave up her artistic work to be a stay-at-home mom after the birth of her first child.

If you are a mom, stay-at-home or otherwise, you will connect with this movie, even during its more supernatural phases. I didn't know what to expect while watching it, but I found myself nodding along and having to pause occasionally just to process and absorb all the details. Motherhood can be lonely, scary, and overwhelming, and it can also be marginalized not just by men but by everyone, including other moms.

The need to run, the need to have a piece of yourself back for just yourself, and the misunderstanding of your moods by partners and friends are all real issues that envelope new moms, and these issues spring off the screen and right into your gut in this film! Watch with an open mind and a good amount of readiness to see some of the ways in which we have knocked each other down as women, as well as how we have and should show up for one another! I highly recommend it!!
