Where Do We Live?

Who doesn't love a book centered around a haunted house? I'm a sucker for any ghost story regarding old homes, likely because I feel like I lived in one growing up. But this particular haunted house has a twist I don't think you'll see coming.
Emily and her husband, Freddie, flee the bustling streets of London in search of a peaceful life in a country home in Dartmoor called Larkin Lodge. Emily barely survived a freak accident during a recent vacation and is still recovering from her near-death experience when the couple decides that moving to the countryside will be good for them both.
But Larkin Lodge has some strange quirks that only Emily seems to notice. Windows open on their own, fires go out unexpectedly, and eerie sounds come from the rarely used top floor. Freddie believes that Emily's complaints stem from her condition of post-sepsis, which can cause hallucinations. So, is the house truly haunted, or is Emily losing her mind?
I thought I had this figured out about halfway through the book, but I never could have predicted the complex and genuinely chilling ending that the novel delivers. Sarah Pinborough is incredibly skilled at leaving readers with unsettling feelings, which makes it astonishing that I continue to seek out her titles. However, I will keep reading her books because the stories are masterfully layered and consistently unsettling. Her novels evoke nightmares, and I will always be a fan.
Pick this one up, and be prepared to be glued to the pages and thoroughly creeped out by the conclusion.
